Low Vision

Low Vision is a bilateral damage to vision that drastically impairs the patient’s ability to function and can’t be effectively fixed with surgical, medical, conventional eyewear or contact lenses. Low vision  may occur due to birth defects, injuries, the natural aging process or as a side effect of disease.

Many patients with low vision wear glasses or contact lenses and find everyday tasks difficult.  Struggling to read & write, or use the computer, shopping and even watching TV become challenging.  People over the age of 65 are at increased risk of developing low vision. Older patients should visit the Ophthalmologist regularly so that the doctor can watch for changes and is able to identify the difference between normal changes in the aging eye and those caused by eye diseases.
